Year 7 and 8's go to Wellington for a week!
Last week the year 7 and 8's went to Wellington for a week long camp. we had so much fun. It took 12 hours of travel to get to Silverstream Retreat - where we stayed. On our first full day we went to Suzanne Aubert's House of Compassion and the Zoo. After tea we went swimming. On our second day, we visited Parliament, Capital E and St Paul's Cathedral. After tea, we went swimming again and the we had our St Patrick's got Talent show. On our third day, we went to Te Papa and then on the Cable Car. After tea we headed to Queesngate Mall for a couple of hours. What a lot of fun! That night we packed up all our gear ready for an early start, another long day of travel.

Education outside the classroom
Kia ora koutou, in the last two weeks of term we had a couple of amazing learning experiences where we got out of the classroom and into our community.
The first experience we had was creating remote control aquabots and then taking them to the swimming pool to see how they work. We need to modify our bots and practice using them so we can enter a competition in Westport.
The second experience we had was a walk around town where we tried out geocaching. Geo caching is like a modern day treasure hunt. We used a geocaching app on the adult's phones and we searched for the caches. When we found a cache, we recorded the date and our group name and then made sure we hid the cache exactly how we found it. We also placed 2 trackable bugs and we hope they end up overseas - so far no-one has logged any activity on the bugs. We had a fantastic time and we all ended up walking 8.5kms.
