Introducing the year 3 learner's to chromebooks

Earlier this term, our Year 8 children went to visit Nazareth and spent some time exploring the Kawa of Care with the Year 3 learners. They explored how to use the chromebook and did the digital dig together. We hope the Year 3 children are having fun using their chromebooks in class.

Whakareatia sing about making ten

This week Mrs Bellis challenged Whakareatia to create their own song to help people learn about number partners to ten.  They have made a fabulous first attempt.  We think that next time we should add some visuals to enhance our video.

Tell us what you think.

Year 4 Holy Spirit

The Year 4 Learners have just finished learning about the Holy Spirit. They each created a slide to show what they have learnt about the Holy Spirit.

Taniwhā inquiry

Recently we have been looking into the taniwhā and finding out everything we can. Some of us have used this to branch off and look into other mythical creatures.

One of the WALTS for our inquiry was to retell the story of the Poutini - West Coast Taniwhā using a DLO.

Here is the video that Netana (year 7) created:

Drama in the library

In week 5 Galilee had a visitor who came to help us develop our Drama skills. Phillip Claassens is an actor who runs workshops for children helping them develop their talents. We had two group sessions with him and learnt many things.

Farewell to Mrs Edwards

On the 3rd of June we had to say goodbye to Mrs Edwards. She is moving to Nelson. We will miss her especially during our German lessons. Mrs Edwards thank you for all you have done for our learners in Galilee. Below are some photos of the card and gift our class got for Mrs Edwards.

Dancing in the street

Derek

Last term we looked at David Bowie and some of his music. At the end of the term we had a great time creating our own dance to dancing in the street. The teachers put a challenge out to some of the year 7 & 8 children to create a video using all of the cuts and the backing soundtrack. Here are two interpretations, one from Lofa and one from Derek.
